Ghost of Yotei is about to get a major overhaul. On November 24, a free update lands with New Game Plus, new gear, improved Photo Mode tools, and fresh post-game content that gives players more to chase even after the story ends.
New Game Plus expands Ghost of Yotei’s replayability
Once players finish the main story, New Game Plus unlocks immediately. This mode lets players relive Atsu’s journey with every previously earned weapon, ability, and armor set still intact. A new higher difficulty setting is included, along with two fresh Trophies tied to NG+ progress.
It’s not just a reset, it’s a remix. The difficulty curve ramps up, and the game rewards those who stick around after the credits roll.
New merchant Masujiro and Ghost Flowers currency
A new vendor, Masujiro the Melodious, makes his debut in this update. He accepts a fresh currency called Ghost Flowers, which players earn through NG+ challenges and post-game events.
Here’s what players can unlock:
- 30+ cosmetics including weapon dyes and armor sets
- 10 new charms for added build variety
- Extra upgrade tier for all weapons and armor
This makes it the most content-rich reward system Ghost of Yotei has offered yet and a clear play to keep completionists grinding long after launch.
Photo Mode tools get a proper upgrade
Photo Mode wasn’t an afterthought in this patch. The update adds several new creative features aimed at players who love framing cinematic shots:
- Shutter-speed adjustments
- Composition grid overlay
- New color filters
Whether you’re capturing a mid-swing katana clash or Ezo’s moody weather, the visual toolkit is now far more versatile.
Better post-game content and accessibility
Once the campaign wraps up, players can now replay select content using a stats overlay that displays completion time and difficulty level. It’s a smart touch for those pushing perfect runs or just hunting missed gear.
The update also includes new accessibility options, such as remapping directional controls for better comfort during extended sessions.
Ghost of Yotei Legends still on the horizon
Sony closed out the announcement with a reminder: Ghost of Yotei Legends is still targeting 2026. No word yet on a PC port, but for now, PlayStation players are eating well.
Whether you’re returning for trophies or testing your skills in New Game Plus, Ghost of Yotei just gave players 30+ new reasons to sharpen their blade.
